Independent Learning Centre

At Meadowvale Secondary School, the Independent Learning Centre (ILC) offers students a variety of correspondence courses to complete their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). It is a special program that offers students an alternative classroom setting. Teachers in the ILC monitor students' progress, guide and assist students, and evaluate their written work.

Students may enrol in the ILC for one or more of the following reasons:

• the student is unable to obtain a credit in a particular subject area due to a timetabling conflict
• the student is having difficulty making progress in a traditional classroom setting
• the student is returning to school with fewer than the expected number of credits
• the student is experiencing personal problems (health, family, social)

All ILC course materials are produced in compliance with guidelines set by the Ontario Ministry of Education as described in 'Ontario Schools Intermediate and Senior Divisions, Ontario Secondary Schools, Grade 9 to 12 ', and in individual subject guidelines.
